Фракцію стромальних білків хлоропластів, ізольованих із листків Spinacia oleracea, отримано шляхом осмотичного руйнування цілих хлоропластів, відмитих від компонентів цитозолю. Методом інфрачервоного СО2-аналізу досліджено вплив іонів кадмію на активність стромальних карбоангідраз (КА). Напівмаксимальне інгібування дегідратазної активності КА спостерігали при добавлянні до реакційного середовища 35 мкМ СdCl2, при добавлянні 80 мкМ ферментативна активність становила 15 % контрольного значення. КА активність у ПААГ після неденатурувального електрофорезу візуалізували за зміною забарвлення індикатора бромтимолового синього в місцях локалізації КА. Виявлено чотири білкові смуги з різною рухливістю й різним рівнем КА активності. Число смуг із КА активністю та інтенсивність їх забарвлення зменшились після попередньої обробки стромальних білків СdCl2 різної концентрації. Найчутливішою до дії Сd2+ виявилася низькомолекулярна форма КА, активність якої повністю пригнічувалась у зразках, оброблених 80 мкМ СdСl2, тоді як КА, асоційована з РБФК/О, частково зберігала активність після інкубації стромальних білків зі 150 мкМ СdСl2. Отримані дані підтвердили можливість використання КА хлоропластів як біомаркера раннього моніторингу забруднення навколишнього середовища важкими металами.
