Проведено цитогенетичний аналіз клітин кореневої меристеми пшениці T. aestivum L., насіння якої було пророщене на радіонуклідно забруднених субстратах донних відкладів водойм ближньої зони відчуження Чорнобильської АЕС. Встановлено, що частота хромосомних аберацій в 1,6—3,3 раза перевищувала показники спонтанного рівня, спектр їхніх типів переважно формували ацентричні фрагменти й мости. Невисока частота виявлених анеуплоїдних клітин може свідчити про наявність у донних відкладах незначних концентрацій мутагенних чинників, що впливають на апарат поділу клітини і сегрегацію хромосом. Тяжкість генетичних наслідків впливу радіонуклідних забруднень характеризує істотне зростання кількості аберацій на аберантну клітину.
